Beijing

The Most Dynamic City with Profound Imperial History

Beijing, also known as Peking, the capital of the People’s Republic of China, is China’s political, economic, cultural and educational center as well as an important center for international trade and communications. In 2015, Beijing was awarded recognition as Asia’s most dynamic city (the third most dynamic in the world).

However, the fast development of modernization process can never shine over the imperial grandeur that this city experienced. The luxurious imperial life, as you can imagine, will amaze you while you are walking around the Forbidden City, savoring the beauty of the Summer Palace, worshiping the past at the Temple of Heaven.

Of course, this city has much more to offer than just tourist sites: great food, fabulous nightlife, adventurous Great Wall hiking, and local life experiencing.

Beijing Peking Opera

Inscribed in 2010 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Beijing Opera is the national treasure of China with a history of 200 years. As a performance art, it incorporates singing, reciting, acting, and martial arts. Its characters are also unique because of their different faces, with different colors and patterns representing different personality and feelings. Visit an Opera Theater in Beijing, and you will enjoy this kind of art more closely.

Beijing Roast Duck

There is a popular saying that goes, “There are two things you must do in Beijing: eat Beijing Roast Duck, and see the Great Wall”. So, this is a must-do thing when you visit Beijing. With its unique cooking method and serving way, the duck slice will display its crispy and shining skin with tender but not greasy meat. When you eat it with some onion, cucumber slice and some specially made source all wrapped in a small round tortilla, it tastes like heaven! Something you must try!

The Great Wall Hiking

If Badaling Great Wall is for sightseeing, the Mutianyu Great Wall is the paradise for hiking. Walking along the natural and decayed wall track, you can feel the wind blowing the history away and soldiers whispering around your ears. It is a great place to challenge yourself and enjoy the bleak yet picturesque scenery on the way. Hiking to Jinshanling Great Wall and photographing the sunset are also highly recommended.
